Walks start promptly at 10.30

 

Tues Oct 2nd     Meet at Calver cricket ground, map ref: 240747  (park on Sough Lane or nearby streets) walk to Froggatt Bridge. Continue along Spooner Lane and return through Froggatt Wood and back to Calver on the riverside path. Distance about 5 miles. There is a short ascent and descent at the beginning and a longer but gradual ascent through the wood.

 

Wed Oct 10th     Hathersage  Meet at new benches in village centre, opposite Sangams Indian restaurant. Post code S32 1 BB.Circular walk following Hood brook and via Green’s house and Nether Hurst. Approximately 4 miles.

Tues Oct 16th    Meet at the Parish Oven, Thorpe Salvin, map Ref 812523,  Walk via  Lascar Wood to Harthill village and Kiverton Country Park returning via the Chesterfield Canal and Cuckoo Walk. Distance approx. 5 miles, mainly level with one easy stile and a short climb towards the end.

Wed Oct 24th    Meet at Ashopton Viaduct Ladybower map ref 195864 for easy walk round Ladybower. Distance 5mls.

Tues Oct 30th     Meet at the village car park Ridgeway S12 3XR map reference 403817 on right coming down the village by the bowling green. Walk about 5 miles with rough ground, steepish slopes and most probably mud. Drinks in The Swan,

Wed Nov 7th     Meet at Bakewell Station map ref: 222689 Walk along the Monsal Trail (and back!) Distance 4.5 miles.

Tues Nov 13th     AGM   Meet at De La Salle for a short walk. We shall be back in time to have our lunch at the club ready to start the AGM at 1.00pm

Wed  Nov 21st     Meet at Fulwood Old Chapel, Whitely Lane, S10 4GL, grid ref SK302851, heading easterly via Whitely Wood, skirting Greystones, arriving at Endcliffe Park, where you can purchase lunch/drinks at the cafe.  Return via Lower Porter Valley, Shepherd Wheel and Forge Dam.  Quite easy 4½ miles.

Tues Nov 27th     Meet in the free community car park in Hawkhill Road, Eyam (the one behind the Pay and Display) Map ref: SK 218767, post code S32 5QP. Village history walk to include industrial and plague sites, the Lydgate and Riley graves and the church. Distance 4 miles

Wed Dec 5th     Meet at Treeton Cricket Club, Washfield Lane, Treeton, Rotherham. S60 5PU,  Grid Reference SK432874.  (street parking plenty of spaces) Taking in Treeton Dyke, The Catcliffe Flash, River Rother and The Historic Catcliffe Glass Cone.

Covering a distance of no more than 5 Miles over reasonably flat terrain.

 

Tues Dec 11th     Meet at Dennis Knoll, ref. SK 227843. A walk up to Stanage Pole and coffee there. Then down towards the road and North Lees and return to Dennis Knoll. A walk of about 5 miles.

 

Wed Dec 19th    Meet at Langsett Barn car park, just after the Wagon and Horses, map ref: 212004, post code S36 4GY for a walk round Langsett Reservoir. Distance 4 miles.

 

 

Members of the group are invited to the DE LA SALLE CLUB behind Beauchief Hall at 8.00 on the 2nd Wednesday of each month to socialise with other U3A members and De La Salle members
